The well-being of North Point Douglas is

the focus of SISTARS.  A community centre

within the historic Barber House has been developed.

Osborne Village Resource Centre,Winnipeg   $6,000

The Centre helps unemployed people find

jobs.  Its computer lab has been upgraded.

Versatech Industries, Winnipeg    $125,000

People living with developmental handicaps

are served by Versatech.  This agency is rapidly expanding and will use this grant to support operating costs for two years.

YMCA, Brandon   $75,000

A new facility will continue the Y's

long history of service to Brandon's

families

Planning Alternative Tomorrows with Hope, Winnipeg  $20,000

Reaching E-Quality Employment Services, Winnipeg   $7,000

Premier Personnel, Winnipeg  $5,000

These agencies help marginalized and disabled people obtain employment.  Grants were awarded for capital and program purposes.

Daniel McIntyre St. Matthews Community Association, Winnipeg   $15,000

This agency serves the families of an inner-city neighbourhood.  It has purchased and is renovating a building from which to deliver its work.

Family Centre, Winnipeg  $7,500

Family Centre has addressed the needs of individuals and families in Winnipeg since 1936.  It is improving its marketing and fundraising stratgies.

John M. King School, Winnipeg   $15,000

In cooperation with the people of the West End,  John M. King School is developing a community square in that inner-city neighbourhood.

North Point Douglas Women's Centre, Winnipeg   $7,500

The Centre focuses on the hopes and needs of inner-city women and their children.  A volunteer program has been started.

Siloam Mission, Winnipeg  $25,000

This inner-city refuge for transient people is refurbishing its facility.

Wolseley Family Place, Winnipeg  $7,500

Marginalized people are welcomed at Wolseley.  This grant is for programming.

Donwood School Community Group, Winnipeg  $2,000

A community kitchen is being established by the Donwood group.  Practical skills will be taught and the community will be strengthened by such interaction.

Child & Family Services of Central Manitoba, Portage la Prairie   $2,500

This agency is developing a program whereby under-privileged children will have access to activities such as sports, art, music and so on.

Manitoba Farmers with Disabilities, Elm Creek   $15,000

MFD provides programs to prevent farm injuries and to help the victims of such events.  Its facility is being renovated.

The Counselling Centre, Brandon $6,000

The Centre offers counselling on a variety of issues with a focus on low income clients.  Its building has been renovated.

Town of Morris $10,000

A new pool house will enhance the outdoor pool in Morris.

Sprucedale Industries, Austin  $10,000

Simaril, Winnipeg  $5,000

ACL Beausejour $25,000

D.A.S.C.H., Winnipeg $30,000

Riverdale Place Workshop, Arborg $10,000

Winnserv, Inc., Winnipeg $3,960

Juniper Centre, Thompson $20,000

These agencies serve people who are developmentally delayed.  A variety of projects were funded.

 

Survivor's Hope Crisis Centre, Pinawa $5,000

Family violence and sexual dysfunction in Eastern Manitoba is addressed by this agency.  The grant was for programming.

 

Winnipeg Central Park Women's Resource Centre $12,811

The Center is a focal point for immigrant women.  Training programs were funded with this grant.

 

Westminster Housing Society, Winnipeg $20,000

Affordable rental accommodations are a challenge for low income people.  The Society is buildng new units which will be partly furnished with this grant.

 

Oak Table Community Ministry, Winnipeg $7,500

The Ministry serves transient people from the historic Augustine United Church.  New flooring was purchased.

 

Wings of Power Family & Community Resource Centre, Pine Falls $10,000

Pine Falls has suffered the loss of its major employer and Wings of Power has hired a Family Support Outreach Worker to help address this crisis.

Rural Municipality of Lawrence, $10,000

A new community hall has been erected in Rorketon.

 

Salvation Army $9,000

Winnipeg Harvest $5,000

Christmas LITE $3,000

Union Gospel Mission $2,500

Christmas Cheer Board of Greater Winnipeg $10,000

Christmas Cheer Boards in Rural Manitoba $6,500

The Foundation has traditionally helped those who are helping others at Christmas.

Bethlehem Ministries, Winnipeg $2,500

Bethlehem provides services to a challenging North End constituency.  This grant will help it to plan for the future.

Winnipeg Centre Vineyard Church $10,000

The Vineyard offers transitional housing to street people.  Its facility has been expanded.

 

Elmwood Community Resource Centre $15,000

This grant will help the Centre perform leasehold improvements at its new location.

 

Winnipeg Children's Access Agency $15,000

The Agency serves to facilitate visits between children and their non-custodial parents.  Renovations have been funded.
