Northern Pregnancy Care Centre, Flin Flon $2,500

These agencies help young women who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.  Both grants were for capital improvements.

 

Union Gospel Mission, Winnipeg $6,401

UGM is a source of help and education for inner city residents.  It acquired a photocopier with this award.

 

Westminster United Church, Winnipeg $7,500

Westminster's historic sanctuary is frequently used by community groups.  The stage is being re-designed.

 

Prairie Skills, Deloraine $7,200

This agency occupies a former heritage church.  The interior is being renovated to provide space for community use.

 

Mary Jane's Cooking School, Winnipeg $4,216

Cooking and housekeeping skills are taught as a means by which needy families can become more secure.  A new dishwasher was acquired with this grant.

 

Manitoba Farmers with Disabilities, Elm Creek $5,000

MFD provides programs to prevent farm injuries and to help the victims of such events.  Various capital items were purchased.

Christmas Cheer Board of Greater Winnipeg $10,000

Salvation Army Christmas Kettle, Winnipeg $5,000

Winnipeg Harvest $5,000

LITE, Winnipeg $2,500

Christmas Cheer Funds in Rural Manitoba $10,500

The Foundation has traditionally helped agencies that are helping others at Christmas.

 

Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, Winnipeg $5,000

Ma Mawi offers an array of services and programs to a mainly Aboriginal population.  It has replaced its flooring at its main office building.

 

Mediation Services, Winnipeg $10,000

The promotion of peace and restorative justice is the work of Mediation Services.  Leasehold improvements were partly funded with this grant.

 

John Howard Society, Winnipeg $4,626

The Society works with offenders and victims of crime to resolve conflicts and repair harm.  A new furnace was purchased.

 

North End Community Renewal Corporation, Winnipeg $17,473

The NECRC is expanding its Tenant Landlord Corporation project.  The TLC project fosters good relations betwween tenants and landlords to ensure decent rental accommodations.

 

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Portage la Prairie and Young Parents Resource Centre $20,000

These agencies have joined forces in Portage la Prairie to develop new space from which to serve the community.

 

Bethlehem Ministries, Winnipeg $10,000

A variety of social services are delivered from a heritage church in the Burrows neighbourhood.  Restoration of the church has been assisted with this grant.

 

Arborg Bifrost Parks & Recreation Commission $5,000

The Town of Arborg is developing an outdoor aquatic facility.

 

Selkirk Friendship Centre $5,370

The Centre promotes progress in the educational, social, economic, athletic and cultural life of Aboriginal people.  A dishwasher for its daycare was acquired with this grant.

 

Onanole & District Recreation Corporation $10,000

Onanole is erecting a new community hall by relocating the former Wasagaming Community Hall to its village.

 

Evergreen Basic Needs, Gimli $15,000

Evergreen serves the neediest residents of the Interlake area.  It is building a new facility from which to expand its services.

 

Riverdale Place Workshop, Arborg $25,000

A new and larger workshop is being erected by Riverdale to serve mentally handicapped adults.

 

St. John Ambulance, Winnipeg $10,000

St. John's mission is to prevent and relieve sickness and injury and to act to enhance the health and well-being of people of all races.  It has embarked on major improvements at its premises.

 

Habitat for Humanity, Selkirk $30,000

The Selkirk chapter of Habitat is working with low income families to build decent, affordable homes.
