New Life Ministries has worked tirelessly to advance the quality
of life in Winnipeg's West End. This grant will help
to secure the agency's work during the next five years.

Roots" is a magazine devoted to Manitoba's thriving community
foundation movement. It is published through the auspices
of the Winnipeg Foundation.
The
Museum, to be built at The Forks, will recognize, promote
and celebrate human rights. This award is payable over
four years.

recycling project will give homeless people in Thompson a
leg up as they seek a turnaround in their lives.

research project concerning the aging of people with developmental
challenges is being conducted by Winnserv.
Gillam
is a remote community. Its skating rink is important
to the quality of life during the long northern winter.
A new Zamboni has been acquired.
A
variety of supports to families in this remote mining town
are offered by the Centre. New flooring will brighten
the facility.
The
high school in Selkirk has one of the best running tracks
in the province. It is adding a fieldhouse to the track
facility.
The
Centre offers the women and children of North Point Douglas
an opportunity to develop their potential in a safe location.
Major sewer and water repairs were partly funded with this
grant.
The
Foundation has traditionally helped agencies that are helping
others at Christmas.
Business
mentoring and financial management is offered by CESO to constituencies
which lack access to such skills. This award will help
CESO to work with aboriginal women.
The
Vineyard is developing a large warehouse in Winnipeg's North
End as transitional housing for street people. Construction
has been assisted.
A
group home for developmentally challenged adults is being
improved by Hearthstone.
The
agency helps disadvantaged people with casual, flexible employment
in a supportive environment. A new delivery truck has
been purchased.
Downtown
Virden will be the new location of this agency's "New
to You" store. It will help mentally challenged
adults learn vocational skills.
A
variety of new equipment and capital improvements will help
this long-established soup kitchen serve its grateful clients.
The
Centre will provide North Enders with a new daycare, health
care services, a fitness facility and other resources.
Inner-city
revitalization is the work of SNA. Its administrative
building will benefit from a new roof.
Valleyview
plays an important role in its neighbourhood. It houses
a day care and a senior centre. It offers a public meeting
space and skating rinks. The Centre is undergoing renovations.
Community
halls are vital to life in rural Manitoba. Capital renovations
were carried out at the Inglis hall.
The
Melita Pool serves a large area of southwestern Manitoba.
It is being upgraded and redeveloped.
