These daycares serve high needs populations.  Grants were awarded for capital projects.

Southwest Youth for Christ, Melita $5,000

YFC offers a variety of wholesome activities for young people.  The Melita branch has occupied new quarters.

Dauphin Friendship Centre $7,000

New recreational equipment will help to keep children constructively occupied in Dauphin.

Canadian Hostelling Association, Winnipeg $9,419

New lockers will be available to young travellers on a budget when they visit Winnipeg's only youth hostel.

Living Bible Explorers, Winnipeg $11,050

LBE helps to keep children of the inner-city out of harm's way.  A bus will help to transport the children to activities.

Camp Bridges $4,000

The regional health authorities of Assiniboine, Brandon and Central Manitoba have established a camp for bereaved children.  This grant helped it get started.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Winnipeg $6,000

The Award challenges young people to aspire to achievement.  It is being expanded to rural and northern Manitoba.

Big Brothers/Sisters of Morden/Winkler $4,998

A new office has been leased by this agency which serves single parent children.  This award funded leasehold improvements.

These agencies have been provided with grants to enable their young clients to attend Winnipeg Blue Bomber football games.  Such experiences are rare for these children.

Manitoba Children's Museum, Winnipeg $25,000

To the delight of children and adults, the MCM is restoring the historic Eaton's Santa's Village.

Springs Inner City, Winnipeg $7,500

Springs operates a drop-in centre in Winnipeg's North End.  A heritage church is being renovated for this purpose.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg $5,000

This agency matches fatherless or motherless children with caring adults.  A new program for Aboriginal girls is being initiated.
